Antenatal and postnatal services

We are proud to support mothers, babies, and new families during one of the most important times in life. When families feel supported, parents can recover with more confidence, trust their instincts, and build a strong foundation for their child’s health and wellbeing. This early support helps families feel stronger and more connected as they grow together.

Private Postnatal Service

The St Lukes Private Postnatal Service, delivered by Salveo Healthcare for eligible St Lukes members, supports families in Tasmania’s North and North West after birth. This time can be joyful and exciting, but it can also feel tiring or overwhelming. Having extra care and reassurance can help families feel calmer and more supported.

Families receive care in ways that suits them best. Some choose a short hotel stay so they can rest and recover, while others are supported in their own homes. Midwives offer clear education, reassurance, and guidance matched to each family. Phone support is also available for families living outside the area or needing follow‑up care. Our midwives help with feeding and settling babies, and health checks for families.

The team also support families with more complex needs. This includes caring for babies after discharge from special care and working closely with Midwifery Group Practice and Early Midwifery Services. This shows the skill, flexibility, and care our Postnatal Team brings to every family.

Antenatal Breastfeeding Education

We also offer Antenatal Breastfeeding Education Sessions for any expectant parents at the St Lukes Wellness Hub. These sessions help families feel prepared before their baby arrives. Topics include breastfeeding tips, common challenges, and where to find support.

What do you think our Antenatal Education Sessions should include?
